Tassos Tataroglou (alias Kame) is a multi-instrumentalist, improvisor and composer born in Thessaloniki (GR) in 1985. He lives in Basel (CH) since 2013.
Studies in classical trumpet performance, modern singing, music theory, analysis and pedagogics until 2013 in Greece (State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, Orfeio Conservatory of Athens, Musicology and Education Sciences departments of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). Further studies in contemporary music and especially in free improvisation with Fred Frith and Alfred Zimmerlin in the Music Academy of Basel (2015-2017, MaSP). Between 2013-2017 lessons in viola da gamba, baroque singing and choir conducting courses in the Music Academy of Basel. Shakuhachi studies with the masters Ueli Fuyûru Derendinger (2019-2021) and Marek Kimei Matvija (2022-now).
Passionate about the exploration of timbre, he designed in 2017 the Microtone – Duplex trumpet.
Member of Unorthodox Jukebox orchestra (Basel) & Insub Meta Orchestra (Geneva).
