The improvisational collective
Stratocluster was formed in the summer of 2013 and made its first recording with Ian Mikyska (guitars, electronics, plastic bottles), Benjamin McGarr (saxophone, flute, piano), Jan Faix (no-input mixing desk, electronics, no-fi field recordings, tape recorders), Mikuláš Mrva (bass guitar, electronics, drums), Jan Kulka (drums, percussion), Tomáš Mika (guitar, piano, klaxon), under the name Tamanrasset it was released on the netlabel Signals from Arkaim.
In the same line-up Stratocluster played 6 concerts, besides improvised music concepts of visual improvisation started to develop, mostly with the help of meotar. Various other artists (Jorge Boehringer, Matthew Goodheart, Ondřej Komárek and Lucka Páchová) also made guest appearances at the concerts. A single with two selected excerpts from the Wakushoppu concert series was released by Stratocluster through their Bandzone profile under the name Shit Laconic.
In July 2014, Benoušek McGarr moved out of Europe and was replaced by a saxophonist Marcel Bárta, who became a permanent member of the band. This line-up has so far played three concerts at the VS. Interpretation festival, a concert series at the Institute of Intermedia of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University and at the Alternativa 2014 festival.
