Study group led by master shakuhachi player and 42nd kansu of Kyoto Myoanji temple Genshin Seian.

Study group led by master shakuhachi player and 42nd kansu of Kyoto Myoanji Genshin Seian. Shika no Tone is one of the most famous pieces for the shakuhachi. Its Myoan version, coming from the lineage of Higuchi Taizan, however, is very rare.
It was inspired by the calls of the deer that, at night, resembled calls of two lost souls seeking each other. It features dramatic muraiki techniques and delicate expressions and musical gestures. We are very grateful that Genshin Seian decided to share his knowledge of this piece. It is for the first time in the festival history that this piece is taught.

The study group will be led in English. The recommended student level is intermediate to advanced. The capacity of this study group is five students.

Score and recording will be provided by the festival.
